 TEACHER'S PROFILE

My name is Mirela Čobić and I come from Montenegro, Europe. I have studied Chinese and English, at Universities in Montenegro, but also in China, so I got the chance to communicate and learn from native speakers and to improve my skills in a native environment. I have been a language teacher for Chinese and English speaking people for several years already. I have lived in China for over a year, where I was working as a language teacher for the Chinese kids and elder people. I have taught both, Chinese and English. It was a big challenge and a great experience for me. I also have several years of language teaching experience trough an online platform called ‘’Freebao’’, so I have a lot of experience in both of the teaching processes, offline and online.   I love literacy, traveling, and cinematography.  I am very communicative, outgoing and open-minded. I am always interested in meeting people from different cultural backgrounds in order to expand my knowledges and go out of my comfort zone. Because I think that a person grows the most mentally and spiritually, by stepping out of his boundaries and challenging himself. And that’s where my love for languages comes from.  I am very neat, well organized and ambitious when it comes to work. I am also a big perfectionist. I dedicate myself to the maximum in order to keep myself and the people I am working with satisfied, but I also expect that from others.

TEACHING METHOD

I am aware that no person is the same, therefore, everyone has their own special needs, straights, and weaknesses. I think that the good teacher is the one who is capable to recognize these things and adjust his classes according to student’s needs.  A lot of language students have problems with speaking, because they’re afraid of making mistakes. I encourage my students to communicate more and even make mistakes, because in fact, those are the best ways to learn and become fluent. My classes are usually very interactive, full of fun games and activities that encourage my students to be confident in their abilities and force them to give their maximum.

Because we’re dealing with the online type of classes here, it is very important to keep the students focused and entertained.  The nature of my classes depends a lot on the age of the student, his interests, learning focuses, etc, but here’s the basic form of my class: I usually start with a little conversation and introduction that lasts about 5 minutes, just to get the student to feel comfortable. Then I tell the student what is the main topic and grammar focus of the class. After that, we proceed with the class material. Depending on the material, I add extra media, videos or some movie inserts that support the class focus. After passing the material, I make sure that the student has understood all the parts of it, with all the time open space for questions and conversation. Then I give the student an exercise or a game in which he will use the gained knowledge during the class.  After that I tend on having an open conversation with using the classes main focuses and slowly close the class.  At the end, I leave a couple of minutes for all the questions and the evaluation of student’s performance. I also often ask them for their evaluation of my class in order to adjust the next one according to his needs.
