 TEACHER'S PROFILE

My name is Federica, I am 24 years old and I come from a little town in Northern Italy. As I was still a child, I showed a particular interest in languages, that’s why I started learning them also on my own, deepening the skills that I acquired at school and getting also certificates confirming my knowledge and proficiency in this area. I did my Bachelor in Genoa in the field of intercultural communication. Within this framework I kept on studying German and I started
studying Russian. During this time, I also spent a semester in Hamburg, Germany, thanks to the Eramus+ project, and I worked for a month as a volunteer in Nepal. After my Bachelor I spent a time in Russia, where I could improve the language and use it in different contexts. I now live in
Vienna, where I am doing my Master in conference interpreting from and to the languages Italian, German and Russian. I started teaching English as I was 18, in Italy. There I mainly helped students who had difficulties in reaching the required level to get in a higher course. Here in Vienna I started teaching Italian to foreigners and I found it exciting and useful for me as well. I could apply my own methods, according to the way I personally learned foreignlanguages, and adapting them to my students’ specific needs and interests. About my person I would say as well that I am interested in arts and cultures, I like going to different kinds of events and discovering local bands and music. I also like painting, doing diverse kinds of artworks and writing, as well as reading literature and texts about political topics.

TEACHING METHOD

I would use different teaching methods according to the level at which my student knows the language. Of course, with beginners we will start studying the grammar basics. I would find also interesting and useful to have a theoretical lesson in which I will explain the structure of the language and its features, focussing also on linguistics. With beginners we will start generally studying the language in a passive way, through listening and reading exercises, in order to get acquaintance with the language, its sounds and characteristics. As soon as the language skills get to a good level – or, with students who are already at an intermediate level – we will start use the language in an active way, i.e. by speaking and writing texts, for instance. With advanced students we will use the language in order to improve it and, especially, to expand the vocabulary. We will also focus on cultural aspects according to the interests and aims of the
student. It is also significant to say that we will try to take as much advantage as possible of the (memory) skills of the student, depending on her or his natural inclination. An interactive method, comprehending and integrating different kinds of medias, is guaranteed.
